Shared Branching Specialist Adds a 'Sprig'

Financial Service Centers Cooperative, one of two national shared branching networks, has changed the name of its text messaging transaction service from MyCUAnywhere to Sprig.

The service, which FSCC offers in conjunction with CU Wireless, allows registered participants from shared branching credit unions to conduct transactions at their CUs via text message from their mobile phones.

The firms chose the name Sprig to emphasize their service was offering a brand new form of branching.

“Bringing banking to the palm of one’s hand, Sprig text banking delivers a robust answer to consumer demand for convenience and instant access” the organizations said in a joint statement about the name change.

“FSCC-participating credit unions can now offer their members the latest in mobile text-based account access — immediately. A cost-effective solution, Sprig is available without set up or monthly maintenance fees, and no minimum monthly usage is required. Credit unions only pay per member transaction,” the statement said.

FSCC said it is also at work on an app for both the Droid and iPhone that will support the Sprig transactions.
